February 2012 Favourites ♥

Well, it looks like February has come and passed quite quickly! This means one thing, the beginning of March! Ok, so maybe that's not what I was going for... It's time for my February Favourites!

My absolute most favourite of my favourites is the Maybelline "Baby Lips" lip balm collection. When they first came out I was on a wild chase to hunt them down, I HAD to try them. Once I tried one, I bought the entire collection. Yes, I may have a problem, HOWEVER, I absolutely LOVE these lip balms. The one I use the most frequently is Peppermint. In fact, I've bought 2 of them now & I'm almost finished the second. My lips seemed to have gotten really dry this winter, these were my go-to lip balms. They really hydrated my lips. The fun thing about them also, is how some of them are tinted. So depending on the scenario, the different colours added a little pop to my face! I'd also like to add how fabulous they all smell! Its available in Quenched, Peppermint, Cherry Me, Grape Vine, Pink Punch & Peach Kiss! I cannot say enough good things about these lip balms!

My next favourite is my new favourite mascara. One by one Volum'Express Mascara by Maybelline. I honestly never thought I'd get over my old favourite mascara (Cover Girl Volume Exact) BUT I HAVE! Probably a good thing, I'm not entirely sure they make that one anymore.. It's getting harder to find anyway. I really love the applicator and formula of this mascara. It's also buildable, something I always look for in mascara. I have a mascara obsession. I always try new mascara, but seem to continuously resort back to old favourites. This is my new love... for now.

My last favourite for this month is the Essie Luxe Effects in "Shine of the Times." I ordered this online after seeing some videos talking about it. I was very eager to test it out! Holy smokes! I am in love. I've worn this a few different times this month over a black, royal blue & currently teal. I love how gorgeous this is, & it looks different depending on what colour you wear it over top of. I really love the teal right now. It's been my favourite combination. :) I also really love how it holds up, when I apply it, it usually lasts for a week before I need to re-do it or when I get bored. LOVE LOVE LOVE. The combinations are endless! I really do like the flaky top coat idea. I know that China Glaze also has some of these, but I was unable to locate them. (I'm now on a mission!)

Anyhow, I'm going to stick to a top 3 favourites kind of thing each month. So, that's about it for me. What are YOU loving this month?

NOTD: Pencil Nails

Happy Monday Everyone!

Hope everyone had a better weekend than I did! My friend popped by last night to try and cheer me up, so she did my nails. She thought she'd try something she'd found on pinterest, Pencil Nails. They turned out not too bad for a first try. She used some of her MIGI Nail Art Pens to add some of the smaller details. I think they're cute. What do you think?

February 2012 LuxeBox ♥

I recieved my February LuxeBox in the mail today! As I'm sure you've noticed, the monthly deluxe sized sample subscription service seems to have become really popular lately. I signed up for both LuxeBox & GLYMM Box last month to test them out & compare them.

Firstly, I absolutely ADORE the personalized "Made for Amy" sticker. It's so cute and very personal, it makes you feel a little more special even though hundreds of other women are recieving the same kind of thing. This months box was sponsored by FLARE magazine and the box, usually black, was a bright and cheery red this month (in lieu of Valentine's perhaps?)

In this month's box I recieved a full sized China Glaze nail laquer in "Something Sweet," a sample of CHI Silk Infusion, a sample of the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, & an adorable sample of Nina Ricci "L'Air" purfume.

Seriously LuxeBox, you're feeding my nail polish addiction. I absolutely adore this colour, its a pastel baby pink, perfect for spring! I already own quite a few China Glaze nail polishes so I know that they're good quality! The CHI Silk Infusion is supposed to help strengthen your hair, add shine and softeness without weighing it down. I'm really excited to try this product out, my hair is colour treated and I torment it on a regular basis with heat styling tools. It holds up pretty well, but I've noticed lately its starting to look more damaged, so we'll test it out and see what happens! The next product was the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, its a powdered form, you add water to form a paste and apply in circular motions to help exfoliate and leave your skin smoother and brighter. Like I mentioned in my GLYMM box post, recently my skin has become more prone to breakouts and extremely oily. This is another product I'm really looking forward to testing out, I'll pretty much try anything lately if it might help calm my skin down. The last product in my box was the prettiest sample of the Nina Ricci L'Air perfume. It's a mini version of the full sized perfume bottle. According to the Nini Ricci website the perfume has freesia, honeysuckle, violet leaves, magnolia & jasmine elements to it. Its a very floral smelling perfume. I've yet to try it out, but from what I've caught a whiff of, I really do enjoy the scent!

Was it worth the $12 monthly subscription fee? Absolutely, without a doubt. I am thoroughly impressed with the contents of my box! Thank you very much LooseButton!

I'm so excited for next month!

February 2012 GLYMM Box ♥

Today I wanted to share with you the contents of my first ever GLYMM box. I was SO excited for this to arrive! Basically, GLYMM is a monthly subscription service that you pay $10 dollars a month for, and you recieve 4-5 deluxe size samples delivered straight to your door.

So here's what I received in my February box & what I thought of them!

The packaging was super cute and elegant. I loved the ribbon with the GLYMM name on it. When I untied it, I saw the goodies!

I was exceptionally excited to see I recieved two full-sized products this month! In the box I recieved a full sized Sula Natural Eyeshadow in "Purple Haze," a full sized Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in "Hibiscus," a sample of Mai Couture Blot & Bronze papers, & a sample of Glam Glow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask.

Overall, I was very pleased with my box this month! I really love the box itself, the eyeshadow colour is completely perfect for me, as I love purples and use them VERY frequently since they help make my brown eyes pop! I also love the Burt's Bees products and have yet to try the tinted lip balms! When I swatched the lip balm, its a really nice sheer berry colour. I'll likely not use the bronze & blot papers until the summer months, seeing as how its going to leave a bronze glow on my skin. I just feel like they'll work better in the summer in that sense! I'm really looking forward to trying out the mud mask, my skin has been so unhappy lately, maybe this will be a product I repurchase if it helps my skin! :) I also think it was well woth my $10. The full sized eye shadow is worth $8 on its own! I've hear a lot of complaints about GLYMM but so far, I'm VERY happy with my box.

I can't wait until next month!

NOTD: Valentine's Day Nails

It's Sunday, I'm supposed to be cleaning & I get distracted with my nail polish. I've come to the conclusion that I have a slight obsession... Anyhow, this is what I came up with for Valentine's Day! White as a base, then China Glaze crackle in "Broken Hearted." On my middle finger I used "Teenage Dream" from the Katy Perry OPI collection and my Migi nail art pens to draw a little heart. Simple, but cute. :)

Favourites: January 2012

Hello Lovelies!

I just have a few favourites to share with you this month.

First is a hair product. I tried a new shampoo this month as per a reccommendation for healthier, stronger hair. It's the L'Oreal Professionelle Delicate Colour Sulfate Free Shampoo. I have colour treated hair and at the moment, its a redish hue. We all know how quick red fades! I love how this shampoo smells and I definitely found it helped keep the colour from fading as quick.
Next favourite is my Benefit Boiing Concealer. Not a new product to me at all, but goodness, its a life saver. I seemed to have an excess of breakouts this month and this concealer was always there to save the day! I love the creamy consistancy and its such a high coverage!

My last favourite is the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. I was using the Gosh Velvet Touch primer, but I found the texture too silky and almosy oily on my face. I didn't love it; but I think this one will be my new favourite. The texture is more creamy and definitely not oily at all. It's a lot more reasonably priced than the other primer as well! I wore this one on New Years Eve to the club and it stood up all night and my face looked gorgeous in photos, not oily or shiny. LOVE it!

Anyhow, that's it for favourites this month, we'll see what next month brings! What are some of YOUR favourites this month? Let me know!
